There’s a new sheriff in town. Well, actually, there’s a new sheriff for us in Edgewater in the April 12 episode of Fire Country , and CBS has released new details and photos about Morena Baccarin in the role.
Max Thieriot grew up in 'Fire Country'
Baccarin will guest star as Deputy Sheriff Mickey Fox in the upcoming episode. In "Alert the Sheriff," the episode description reveals, "after a fire camp inmate escapes from Three Rock, a deputy with a surprising connection to the Leones, Mickey, is called in to investigate." Series star, creator and executive producer Max Thieriot directed the episode and told TV Insider ahead of the season that Mickey is a "really fun" and "exciting" character.
There is talk of a possible spin-off of Fire Country, and Baccarin could play the lead role in it. However, this upcoming episode is not a pilot. There are other phases the series needs to go through before it can be ordered as a series.
As executive producers Joan Rater and Tony Phelan told us at the beginning of the season, this episode will see the sheriff’s office interact with Three Rock (the inmate firefighting camp) and Station 42. “It’s such a natural intersection of those worlds, and it’s really fun to get to know someone at the sheriff’s office and see the agency interaction,” Rater said. “Morena is amazing. We’re just so excited to explore that world.” With Mickey, she added, they’ll be able to “get to know Edgewater in a fun way.”
