Flatliners Trailer #1 (2017) | Movie Clips Trailers
EXCLUSIVE: Before you watch the Oz Perkins-directed, sly serial killer thriller Longlegs , which won last week, you should first sit through a dizzying parade of trailers for derivative horror films. The genre is hot again, especially titles with proven concepts.
Author JD Barker uses that opportunity to put the defibrillator paddles on the spine-chilling 1990 horror film Flatliners . Barker has been brought in to breathe new life into the franchise that began in 1990 with Joel Schumacher directing a bright young ensemble cast that included Kiefer Sutherland, Julia Roberts, Kevin Bacon, Billy Baldwin and Oliver Platt.
The original was released by Columbia, but Barker said that writer Peter Filardi got the rights to his original script back, and the writer convinced the writer to come up with a twist on the original story that takes the resuscitation story in a different direction than the original or a later remake. The novel is based on that script, not the film, and Joel Gotler of Intellectual Property Group will broker the rights for the screen.
