Partido Demokratiko Pilipino (PDP) Chairman Robin Padilla has advised Senate Majority Leader Francis Tolentino to resign from the party amid rumors that he is seeking to join the government-backed coalition for re-election in 2025.

Padilla said in a statement that Tolentino should leave the ruling party of former President Rodrigo Duterte so he can focus on his re-election and his duties in the Senate.
“Dahilan sa bagong mandato to inyong hinaharap sa Senado, buong pappapakumbaba kong iminumungkahi na marahil po ay mas makabubuti ang iyong pabibitiw bilang opisyal at kasapi ng PDP-Laban,” Padilla said.
If Tolentino were to leave the PDP, he would have to give up his post as PDP vice chairman for Luzon.
