National Unity Party president and Camarines Sur deputy LRay Villafuerte is pushing for strict government regulation on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) for deepfake audio, visual or audiovisual material.
DeepFake and AI together will fool EVERYONE
Villafuerte said House Bill 10567 seeks to require users of AI technology to disclose their deepfake creations, with producers or distributors who fail to comply being penalized with a P5 million fine.
Those who remove or manipulate the information risk fines ranging from P2 to P3 million.
Villafuerte filed the measure just weeks after he expressed support for the proposal of Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chairman George Erwin Garcia to ban the use of AI and deepfake technology in election campaigns to ensure fairness and transparency in elections.
