Francis Ford Coppola on building #Megalopolis with his own money: "When I die, I won't remember."
Francis Ford Coppola told Rolling Stone that his intention with "Megalopolis" was to make a film that couldn't be considered "a woke Hollywood production." The cast includes controversial actors such as Jon Voight, who has gained attention in Hollywood for his conservative views and outspoken support for Donald Trump, and Shia LaBeouf, who was accused of sexual assault in 2021.
"What I didn't want to happen is that we were seen as a woke Hollywood production that just lectured viewers," Coppola said. "The cast is made up of people who were canceled at some point. There were people who were arch-conservative and people who were extremely politically progressive. But we were all working together on one film. I thought that was interesting."
As for working with LaBeouf, who has barely appeared in films since the allegations against him emerged, Coppola praised the actor but admitted that relations between the two had been tense.
