Disney literally let loose at D23 on Friday, most notably with the first look — specifically concept art — at the upcoming Frozen 3, the third installment of the original animated series that grossed $2.76 billion worldwide at the box office and won two Oscars.
Filmmaker Jennifer Lee said, "There were a lot of questions that came out of Frozen 2… it's going to take two movies to answer them." She did this without explicitly saying that there would be a Frozen 4. Nor was a Frozen 4 logo shown on-screen. She did say that Frozen III would hit screens in 2027 (Disney has put a November 24, 2027, date on hold for the animated film — that's the traditional Thanksgiving spot for Frozen). Incidentally, this lines up with what Disney CEO Bob Iger said on GMA in November — that, yes, Virginia, there is a Frozen 4.
