Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga will be available to stream on Max from August 16.

The film's streaming debut follows its May theatrical release, which disappointed with $172 million worldwide, despite the post-apocalyptic action film receiving rave reviews.

Furiosa is the fifth installment in George Miller's Mad Max franchise and is a prequel to the 2015 Oscar-winning film Mad Max: Fury Road. The film explores the backstory of Imperator Furiosa, a fierce warrior portrayed in this film by Anya Taylor-Joy, following Charlize Theron in the previous film.

Directed by Miller, who co-wrote the screenplay with Nico Lathouris, the new film delves into the character’s early life, revealing how she was taken from the Green Place of Many Mothers and thrown into the brutal world of Warlord Dementus and Immortan Joe. As Furiosa struggles to survive in this harsh environment, she must navigate loyalties and rivalries that shape her into the formidable leader seen in Fury Road.
