Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez told the members of the Liga ng mga Barangay that they would soon become members of the Social Security System (SSS) free of charge and would then be able to enjoy life insurance and a lifetime pension.

During the national convention of Liga ng Mga Barangay held Tuesday at the World Trade Center (WTC) in Pasay City, Romualdez also announced that the House of Representatives will push for the passage of a measure that will extend the term of office of barangay officials to six years.
“The SSS is intended to enhance the protection of security and the safety of the SSS,” he said.
“Umaasa says it is long past time that you can use SSS. If you take out a life insurance policy with your company on SSS, you may be eligible for a life pension,” he added.
