Holland's casting was announced during Ghosts' San Diego Comic-Con panel, which also revealed Dean Norris as Sam's (Rose McIver) father. In the photo, fans catch a glimpse of Isaac (Brandon Scott Jones), looking just fine after being dragged into the mud around Woodstone by a faceless Patience at the end of Season 3.
In the aptly titled premiere episode, "Patience," set for Thursday, October 17, Isaac will come face to face with the Puritan Patience for the first time since she was lost in the dust. Meanwhile, Sam and the other ghosts will race to find him after he vanished following his non-marriage to redcoat Nigel (John Hartman).
As revealed in Holland's casting announcement, Patience died in the late 1600s and was extremely judgmental during her lifetime, even by Puritan standards. During her lifetime, Patience was banished from her village for being "a little too much." After being dead for a few hundred years, she was left underground by Isaac and became a feral creature that has roamed the uninhabited earth of Woodstone since 1895.
