Malacañang on Tuesday afternoon (July 23) suspended government work and classes at all levels in Metro Manila due to bad weather brought by the southwest monsoon (habagat) and Typhoon Carina.

Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, under the authority of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., signed Memorandum Circular 57, suspending government work and classes effective 2:00 p.m.
The agencies whose functions include the provision of basic and health services, disaster and emergency preparedness and response, and the provision of other essential services. However, they must continue their work and provide the necessary services.
“The suspension of work for private companies and offices is left to the discretion of their respective heads,” the memorandum said.
