Virtual production appears poised to reach a new point in its technological evolution. While Hollywood is currently experiencing an overall production slowdown, a 360i Research forecast suggests that the virtual production industry could surpass $8 billion by 2030.
The term virtual production broadly refers to a range of techniques used to 'virtualize' parts of the production process, including previs, although the term is often used to describe stages with LED walls.
This week, as the International Broadcasting Convention kicks off in Amsterdam on Friday, a host of new developments in virtual production will be on display, including those using AI.
