Winona Ryder to Shine at Beetlejuice 2 World Premiere | Venice Film Festival 2024
The 44th edition of the Hawaii International Film Festival presented by Halekulani opens with “Tinā,” an uplifting drama marking the feature directorial debut of Miki Magasiva, and closes with Sori Fumihiko's “Hakkenden: Fiction and Reality.”
In addition, the festival will screen 92 feature films and 114 short films, with major awards going to guests such as Jimmy O Yang, Sandra Ng from Hong Kong and documentary maker Stanley Nelson.
“This year, we have the largest selection of Hawaiian films in competition in the festival’s history, presenting multiple films that explore Indigenous perspectives, narrative sovereignty and the development of cultural identity, and launching a new spotlight showcasing the best in television,” said Beckie Stochetti, HIFF Executive Director.
