New TV shows and movies coming to HBO Max between August 19 and August 25, 2024 include City of God: The Fight Rages On and The Thaw season 2.
On Friday, August 23, HBO Max viewers can tune into the platform to watch the second season of The Thaw, also known as Odwilz. Set in Szczecin, Poland, the Polish series follows the mystery of a young woman found dead under melting ice and the questions she left behind after her death.
Then, on Sunday, August 25, City of God: The Fight Rages On Season 1 arrives on HBO Max. Set 20 years after the events of the film City of God, the series follows a grown-up Wilson “Rocket” Rodrigues, now living his dream of becoming a photojournalist. He returns to the favela where he grew up to document the tensions between drug dealers, politicians, militia members, and police officers.
