In his third State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Monday, the President boasted that the poverty rate has dropped to 15.5 percent, lifting nearly 2.5 million Filipinos out of poverty.
“Despite the headwinds we have faced, we have stayed the course. The country is showing healthy signs of resilience post-pandemic, comparable to strong economies in our region,” he said.
“Our poverty rate has dropped significantly to 15.5%, from 18% in 2021. This current rate is even lower than the pre-pandemic level of 16.7% in 2018. Halos dalawa't kalahating milyong Pilipino ang naiangatnatin mula sa kahirapan,” he said.
