The cast of the live-action film Voltron has a major star: Henry Cavill is set to join the project for the long-awaited film adaptation of the legendary animated series.
Henry Cavill joins live-action Voltron cast in unknown role
It's unclear who Cavill will play in the film, but he'll join Daniel Quinn-Toye, who was cast as the project's lead earlier this month. Plot details for the film are currently being kept under wraps, with no further casting or production details available at this time.
As previously reported, the live-action Voltron film will be directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber from a screenplay he's co-writing with Ellen Shanman. Todd Lieberman and David Hoberman are attached to produce along with Bob Koplar through World Events Productions, the company that currently holds the rights to the mecha franchise.
The Voltron franchise is based on Toei Animation's mecha anime series titled Beast King GoLion, which aired for 52 episodes from 1981 to 1982. The series first gained international recognition when World Events Productions and ABC adapted the series into an English-language animated series that aired on television from 1984 to 1985.
