Senator Risa Hontiveros hopes that the new approach of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in the fight against illegal drugs will be more effective and humane.

Hontiveros wants the PNP's $900 million drug war budget to be disbanded in favor of other projects

“Napatunayan na ng kasaysayan na hindi epektibo ang Opplan Tokhang,” the senator said.

“Umaasa can strategize the way people interact with each other to think about how to move forward,” she added.

Hontiveros issued the statement after the PNP announced that it is now focused on dismantling supply chains in the fight against illegal drugs.
