The House of Representatives will significantly increase the daily allowance for members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) in the proposed 2025 national budget.
AFP assures: House will raise subsistence level to P350
This was disclosed by Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez during the House officials’ meeting with officers and men of the AFP led by Deputy Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Charlton Sean Gaerlan, representing AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Romeo Romeo Brawner Jr., at the Naval Base in Subic, Zambales on Friday.
“Now I will make this brief announcement to you that I hope you will be pleased with. We, the House of Representatives, have already committed that we will include in the next budget a 15 billion peso package that will increase your 150 peso subsistence allowance, more than doubling it to 350 pesos,” Romualdez said, drawing applause and cheers from the listening soldiers.
“I repeat, we are more than doubling your subsistence allowance, and that is a fair recognition of the long-overdue increase that we believe you have long deserved. And we felt it was appropriate to do this immediately in the next budget,” he added.
