Senator Bong Go has thrown his support behind Filipino pole vaulter EJ Obiena, even though he narrowly missed out on a medal at the Paris Olympics.

Obiena finished fourth in the men's pole vault final at the Summer Games, just shy of 5.9m after three attempts. He has apologized for his performance.
