Set in near-future Indonesia, “Mothernet” is a gripping family drama that centers on 16-year-old Rama as he tries to find his way in life after a tragic accident leaves his mother in a coma. With the help of an artificial intelligence (AI) program, Rama and his father embark on a journey of reconnection and healing, according to an included synopsis.
Indonesian actors Dian Sastrowardoyo (Netflix series “Cigarette Girl”) and Ringgo Agus Rahman (“Falling in Love Like in Movies”) play the adult leads. Rising star Ali Fikri (“24 Hours with Gaspar”) plays the youngster.
“Mothernet” will primarily shoot on location in Indonesia, with virtual scenes filmed in Singapore at X3D Studio’s virtual production facilities operated by Refinery Media, believed to be the largest of their kind in Southeast Asia. Production is expected to continue through the remainder of the third quarter, with the completed film due for delivery in 2025.
