Why Curiosity Gets You Further Than Ambition | Drew Lynch | TEDxNashville
A panel of Hollywood executives and producers at the Zurich Summit offered the “next generation” their insights on how to get ahead in the business.
The lineup included former Netflix and Universal executive David Kosse, now an independent producer; Jason Sloane, partner at the top law firm Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern; Theresa Peters, partner at UTA; Dawn Olmstead, former CEO of Anonymous Content and current CEO of Secret Menu; and Marc Mounier, executive and producer at Entertainment 360.
Peters, who represents talent including Kirsten Dunst and James McAvoy, said: "We often ask if we would encourage someone to come into the agency today, because it's very different to when I started. I always say yes, because I love my job and I'm happy in my job, and I'm still motivated every day. It's definitely a little bit different, but one of the things that's constant is passion. We get to work with super creative people, and no matter where they are in their career, you never know where they're going to go. And that's always exciting. Who would have predicted Baby Reindeer a year ago? So be passionate about who you go after, but don't overwhelm yourself. Don't hire too many people. Don't put too many people on your list that you can't really serve and be in their lives and have input. Have a balance in your life. It's really important to have balance. If you have balance, you bring more to the job."
