Host Serena Williams got the 2024 ESPYS off to a fun start with her monologue about rap feuds with Kendrick Lamar, Shohei Ohtani's translator, Bronny James' draft by the Los Angeles Lakers and — in the biggest reaction on social media — the start of Caitlin Clark's WNBA career.
Williams took the stage surrounded by people in tennis gear.
“Caitlin Clark had a great year and is nominated for three awards,” Williams began her joke to the packed Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. “You’re the Larry Bird in that you’re a great player, you have ties to Indiana, and white people really love you.”
