The House of the Dragon season 2 finale is scheduled to air on Sunday, August 4, but parts of it were leaked on TikTok and X (formerly known as Twitter) five days in advance. House of the Dragon, a prequel to the hit series Game of Thrones, is currently one of the most talked-about TV shows in the world, much like its predecessor. Accordingly, the leaked House of the Dragon finale has attracted a lot of attention.

On Tuesday night, a TikTok account posted clips from the upcoming House of the Dragon season 2 finale. By the time the account was taken down, approximately three hours after the footage was leaked, the videos had been viewed between 50,000 and 100,000 times each and had been shared by other accounts on TikTok and on X.

This isn’t the first time this has happened to House of the Dragon, or its predecessor for that matter. In October 2022, the House of the Dragon season 1 finale leaked ahead of the episode’s official airing. At the time, HBO released the following statement to Variety , noting that a distribution partner in the Europe, Middle East, and Africa region was behind the leak.

"We are aware that episode 10 of House of the Dragon has been posted to illegal torrent sites," the statement read. "It appears to originate from a distribution partner in the EMEA region. HBO is aggressively monitoring these copies and removing them from the internet. We are disappointed that this unlawful action has disrupted the viewing experience of loyal fans of the show, who will see a pristine version of the episode when it premieres Sunday on HBO and HBO Max, where it will stream exclusively in 4K."
