Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez on Wednesday reaffirmed the House of Representatives’ continued commitment to supporting the initiatives of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to boost local farmers’ production.
DA and Marcos do not support zero tariff plan for rice imports
Romualdez confirmed this after accompanying Marcos in the handover of 148 heavy machinery purchased by the National Irrigation Administration in Construction City in Mexico, Pampanga. The equipment cost P782 million.
“The House of Representatives stands firmly behind President Marcos Jr.’s vision for a more productive and resilient agricultural sector. Our farmers are the backbone of our nation and it is our duty to provide them with the support they need to thrive,” Romualdez said.
The purchase of new excavators, trucks and dumpers is part of the second phase of NIA's three-year replacement program. These vehicles will be used in the operation and maintenance of irrigation systems across the country.
