Generative AI is increasingly being used in the creation of conceptual art, but its use is deliberately limited.
Creating variations of a design using AI
Concept art in film and television can involve creating designs for characters, environments, sets, buildings, vehicles, costumes, and props, and is most often required for fantasy, sci-fi, and action projects. Some concept artists specialize in keyframes, the creation of digital paintings that visualize specific shots of pivotal moments that need to be captured on screen. Many concept artists have 3D modeling talents at varying skill levels.
Today, artists no longer rely on stock photos, search the internet for images or previous film and TV references, but use AI images as a creative starting point.
AI imagery is used to facilitate and accelerate communication between production stakeholders, allowing for faster agreement on the design concept or artistic direction before an artist renders the final imagery in detail.
