Hockey fans looking to cancel their cable subscription, switch to streaming, and save some money can now try out Sling TV.

A new deal with the NHL will see Sling TV air up to 40 live, out-of-market games each week, giving the live streaming service a much-needed boost as it competes with the likes of YouTube TV and Hulu + Live TV. By adding a subscription to NHL Center Ice, priced at $29 per month, Sling TV, considered the cheaper option of the three, brings it into a similar price point as its competitors.

“NHL Center Ice on Sling TV offers the best NHL experience in sports,” said David Teplinsky, vice president of programming and strategy for Sling TV, in a press release announcing the deal.

Stephen Lovely, editor-in-chief of Cordcutting.com, believes NHL Center Ice is primarily for people who want to play games outside of their home country.
