When each of the four new mobile games Netflix announced on Thursday launch alongside seasons of their respective series, it's a sign that Netflix is taking full advantage of its unique position as a streaming hub for both traditional media and games.
111 Video Game Details in the Fallout TV Show
The games based on “Perfect Match,” “Too Hot to Handle,” “The Ultimatum” and “Selling Sunset” join a library of more than 100 mobile titles that already includes existing “Too Hot to Handle” games and “Netflix Stories: Love Is Blind.”
They are all tied to existing, unscripted series on the platform, but are otherwise labeled as “interactive fiction,” and are also taking cues from the success of the “Fallout” franchise.
While Bethesda didn't release a brand new "Fallout" game after Amazon's hit series adaptation of the games began streaming on Prime Video on April 12, it did release a long-awaited remaster of 2015's "Fallout 4" on current-gen PlayStation and Xbox consoles on April 25. In just six days, the game peaked at number five in overall U.S. game sales for April, after having entered the top 100 a month before the show debuted.
