If you want to get a sneak peek at Dead By Daylight's latest killer or try out the new perks, you might be able to download a new patch early if you open the game's Public Test Build (PTB).
How to Access Dead By Daylight PTB (Public Test Build)
It’s a great opportunity to test out whether you like a character or try someone out before you buy them. For the Dead by Daylight team, it’s a good idea to get some early feedback on a particular Killer or Survivor before they make their way into the official game. However, there are a few things you’ll need to do before you can jump into the game’s PTB. Here’s what you need to know about setting that up.
The PTB usually opens about three weeks before a new chapter is released and stays open for a short period of time (usually a week). During that window, all Steam players can try out the new features hands-on, provide feedback on balancing and even potential bugs. Progress on the PTB does not carry over to the live version, so the purpose of participating is to test out the new stuff. It’s a perfect chance to try out the upcoming Castlevania crossover.
The PTB is only available to Steam players. Right-click on Dead By Daylight in your library and go to the Properties tab. Once the DBD menu opens, click on Betas and select Public Testing, which will give you access to the PTB. This will also change the name of your game in your library. You must have purchased the game to access it. If you haven't purchased the game, you won't be able to try out the PTB.
