One of the benefits of playing games on Steam is the app’s built-in controller support. The client automatically recognizes dozens of controllers when you plug them into your PC, and more are being added all the time, including the new Xbox Series X and Xbox Elite controllers. Steam even supports the Series X’s dynamic trigger rumble and the Xbox Elite’s extra buttons and paddles.
How to Make Xbox Elite Series 2 Work with Steam
Unlike some input devices, there are a few settings you’ll need to configure before you can use your new Xbox controllers to game through your massive Steam library. First off, the Xbox Series X and Xbox Elite controllers will only work if you’re running the latest Steam app beta. Full support should roll out to the stable version soon, but if you want to use them right away, you’ll need to opt into the Steam beta:
Click “Change” under the Beta Participation section.
Select “Steam Beta Update” from the dropdown menu.
