Don't be ashamed if you like lumps! 🥔 – BBC
“It's always easy to talk in hindsight,” said Charlotte Moore in Edinburgh this afternoon as she discussed the Huw Edwards scandal and asked whether the BBC could have done more.
The content boss said “the BBC did everything it could with the evidence it had at the time” as she addressed the recent revelation that the broadcaster knew its former star newsreader had been arrested in November but remained on the BBC payroll for a further five months. He pleaded guilty to making indecent images of children late last month and is due to be sentenced in a few weeks.
"We are all shocked by the revelations about Huw Edwards to everyone at the BBC and across the UK," Moore said. "He really is the villain of the piece and the victims are those poor children. It's nice to look back on it, but the BBC did everything they could with the evidence they had at the time."
