“I wore a fat suit for Falstaff and it saved my ribs and other joints. So I was really lucky…” McKellen said in an interview with Saga magazine.
The actor recounted the fall he took earlier this year, saying it happened during a fight scene. He added: "My foot got stuck in a chair and when I tried to shake it off, I started sliding on a newspaper that was spread across the stage, like I was on a skateboard."
“The more I tried to get away from it, the faster I went down a step, to the front stage, and then to the lap of someone in the front row,” he continued. “I started screaming, ‘Help me!’ and then, ‘I’m sorry! I’m not doing this!’ Extraordinary things. I thought it was the end of something. It was very unpleasant.”
