The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has warned the public not to purchase Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) cards from online vendors.
BIR WARNS ILLEGAL TRANSACTION WITH TIN ID CARD
This comes after the BIR discovered several “enterprising” individuals offering services such as “BIR TIN ID ASSISTANCE” on Facebook, Shopee, Lazada and other online sites.
“These offers of TIN ID Assistance posted on online channels/selling platforms are not authorized by the BIR and are therefore considered illegal. Do not be fooled by such offers,” said Commissioner Romeo Lumagui, Jr.
“TIN cards are not for sale and are only issued/released by the BIR through its authorized personnel. Do not purchase TIN or TIN cards from unauthorized BIR personnel, non-BIR personnel or through Facebook, Shopee, Lazada and other online selling platforms as they are considered illegal, fraudulent and fake,” Lumagui added.
