Barack and Michelle Obama's speeches were the highlight of the second night of the Democratic National Convention, but they were also the first of their kind, a well-produced ceremonial name call, accompanied by a DJ.

The arena, lit with color-changing flashing lights, featured Lil Jon, who delivered a surprise rap when Georgia was called to vote for Kamala Harris; Sean Astin paid tribute to Rudy as Indiana announced its votes; and Spike Lee appeared with the New York delegation as the governor bragged about New York State's supremacy.
And then there was Wisconsin, a key battleground state, and its governor, Tony Evers, surrounded by cheese-faced delegates. As he began to announce his state, telling the arena he was there “because I’m ready,” he stumbled over Kamala Harris’s result.
“Oh my God,” he said, struggling to get the words out, which he finally managed after almost a minute.
