DNC Night 1: Welcome to Chicago | Joe Biden Appreciation Night | Kamala's surprise

Adrenaline (and maybe a lot of caffeine) fuels the crew of “The Daily Show” in Chicago on Thursday morning. And yet tonight may be their biggest episode of the entire week in town for the Democratic National Convention: a live episode, hosted by Jon Stewart, airing at 11:30 p.m. ET.
Hopefully, that means the show will go live around that time, right after Kamala Harris wraps up her Democratic presidential nomination acceptance speech at the United Center. But as their colleagues at CBS' "The Late Show With Stephen Colbert" learned this week, the DNC doesn't promise to stick to a set schedule. "The Late Show" has been airing live episodes all week, meaning it often doesn't go off the air until around 1 a.m. local time — emptying Chicago's Auditorium Theatre.
