ComingSoon Editor-in-Chief Tyler Treese sat down with The Radleys star Kelly Macdonald to talk about the horror-comedy. She talked about working with co-star Damian Lewis, playing a vampire, and more. Lionsgate will release the film in theaters, digitally, and on demand on October 4, 2024.
Interview: Kelly Macdonald talks about vampire horror comedy The Radleys
“Award-winning actors Kelly Macdonald (No Country For Old Men) and Damian Lewis (Billions, Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood) star in a dark comedy-thriller about a seemingly average suburban family hiding a juicy secret: they’re vampires. The Radleys may seem normal in the light of day, but they can only suppress their natural desires for so long before the bloody truth surfaces and turns their quiet country life upside down,” the synopsis reads.
Kelly, congratulations on The Radleys. I find that as an actor, just playing a vampire is inherently very seductive. So what really drew you to this project, other than playing a vampire, which is maybe enough in itself?
Kelly Macdonald: Honestly, that’s enough for me. Working with Euros was also really appealing. The director, he was kind of my first point of contact and we had a really, really nice Zoom meeting. He was at a train station at night. It was very, you were expecting a vampire to come in at any moment. It was like a Welsh train station outside at night, and we had a really, really nice, nice conversation. I could have talked to him for hours. And I love his work. Then I found out that Damian was going to play these two characters who weren’t actually written as twins in the book. I thought that was a really kind of genius move.
