Luis Gerardo Méndez explains how skin care digs beneath the tricks of rotting souls | Interview

"Celebrity esthetician Hope Goldman (Elizabeth Banks) is on the verge of taking her career to the next level by launching her own skincare line, but her personal and professional lives are put to the test when rival esthetician Angel Vergara (Luis Gerardo Méndez) opens a new skincare boutique right across the street from her shop. She begins to suspect that someone is trying to sabotage her reputation and business, and together with her boyfriend Jordan (Lewis Pullman), she sets out on a mission to unravel the mystery of who is trying to destroy her life," the synopsis reads.

Tyler Treese: I love hearing how actors get ready. So how much did you know about the world of skincare and owning a facial salon before you got into Skincare and did you learn a lot about it?

Luis Gerardo Méndez: A little bit. Part of it is because I'm an actor, and I have a lot of actress friends, and I've been in this business for like 20 years. So my friends tell me all about this new treatment they're doing, this crazy new trend, this stupid thing they sprayed in her face. So yeah, I've had those conversations. That wasn't so important to me for this movie. I think it was much more important to me and to the director that Austin build this scene. When you see the character singing and dancing in his house, because this movie is about presenting the way these characters present themselves to the world, like the way they present themselves to the world, but in a very subtle way showing the cracks, you know?
