“Did they rehearse at home?!” | 8,200 complaints about Ed Balls interview with wife Yvette Cooper
ITV's controversial husband-and-wife political interview has attracted more than 8,000 complaints to Ofcom, putting it second on the 2024 list.
Social media went into overdrive when Good Morning Britain presenter Ed Balls questioned his wife, Yvette Cooper, the Labour Home Secretary, on ITV earlier this week. Given that GB News fell foul of Ofcom rules on the thorny issue of politicians interviewing politicians from the same party, the incident made headlines. ITV has already said it stands by the decision and believes the interview was “fair and impartial”.
An Ofcom spokesman said: “We are assessing complaints against our broadcasting rules but have yet to decide whether to launch an investigation.”
