Fans are wondering if Anna Delvey, born Anna Sorokin, from the Netflix series Inventing Anna is still in prison and what she is doing today. Delvey rose to fame by worming her way into the lives of New York’s wealthiest people and scamming banks out of money by posing as a German heiress. She scammed banks, hotels, and prominent figures in the city out of approximately $270,000. Delvey made international headlines in 2018 after her arrest and again in 2022 after Inventing Anna, produced by Shonda Rhimes, premiered on Netflix.

In April 2019, a Manhattan jury found Anna Delvey guilty of eight charges. These included one count of attempted grand larceny, three counts of grand larceny, and four counts of services of theft. Delvey was sentenced to 4 to 12 years in prison and was granted early release on probation in February 2021. Shortly thereafter, she was taken into custody by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), citing that the scammer had overstayed her visa. ICE did not grant her release until October 2022, and she has been living in New York City since then.
According to People Magazine, Anna Delvey, whose real name is Anna Sorokin, is still under house arrest. She now lives in an apartment in a building in New York City’s East Village. The former inmate also wears an ankle monitor as part of her release conditions. In addition, the conditions prohibit her from leaving the house altogether. She has all her groceries delivered and a personal trainer visits her apartment because she can’t go to the gym. The only exceptions are her weekly meetings with ICE officials. As part of the deal, she is also now allowed to use social media platforms.
Despite her notoriety, Anna Delvey’s business has helped her land projects, including a reality TV show called Delvey’s Dinner Club. The series will chronicle her life in her East Village apartment, where she has invited actors, musicians, socialites and journalists, among other prominent figures, despite living under a series of restrictions. A 2023 release said Delvey will host these guests for intimate evenings. They will have private chefs prepare for the occasion and have conversations with guests about her “experience with the criminal justice system, her strategy to rehabilitate her image and her plans for the future.”
