Fans are concerned that gymnast Simone Biles is injured or in pain following the women's qualifying event at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games on Sunday, July 28. During warm-up for the floor exercise, her second event in Subdivision 2 qualifying, Biles appeared to hurt her left ankle. The incident was severe enough to prompt her to leave the floor with U.S. team physician Dr. Marcia Faustin for several minutes before returning with her ankle taped. Here's the latest update on Simone Biles' potential injury at the 2024 Olympic Games.

The latest update on Simone Biles’ injury is that it’s actually a minor issue with her calf that she had a few weeks ago, as her coach Cecile Landi revealed. Biles will be able to continue competing in the 2024 Paris Olympics.

This is according to multiple reports on X by Emily Giambalvo, a reporter for The Washington Post. Initially, many thought Biles had suffered an ankle injury. She seemed to favor her left leg on the floor exercise. This may have been one reason she had to step out of bounds while landing her incredibly difficult Biles II, a triple-twisting double back, on the opening step. It may also have been the reason she decided not to do her usual stag jump after Biles I.

Landi clarified that Biles "felt better at the end" of the event and that she specifically felt better before her uneven bars routine. Biles did indeed perform her signature vault, the Yurchenko double-pike, and then her uneven bars routine without much trouble. She did make a fool of herself during the vault event, jokingly crawling to the runway and noting that she needed a wheelchair.
