Trisha Krishnan’s latest web series Brinda is creating quite a buzz as it premieres on Sony LIV on August 2, 2024. The investigative thriller, with a gripping plot and a dark twist, has been raising curiosity about its connection to real-life events. The show explores themes like superstition and mystery, leaving viewers wondering if it is based on true stories.

Brinda draws inspiration from real-life themes of superstition and ritual practices, but it is not a direct depiction of specific real-life incidents. The series was conceived by writer-director Surya Manoj Vangala, who was motivated by his research on ritual and superstitious practices. In his own words, "In 2015-16, I read about an incident in Uttar Pradesh. I learnt about certain practices in other regions as well. Extremely polarising debates on these issues made me think."

This investigation into dark and controversial practices formed the basis for the plot of the series. Although Trisha Krishnan's Brinda is inspired by these real-life issues, it is ultimately a work of fiction.

Before becoming a protector of the law, she was chosen as a child to be sacrificed to appease the gods. However, she eventually escaped. As the story progresses, the focus shifts to Brinda as an adult, now working as a sub-inspector in Hyderabad. Known for her stern demeanor and strained relationships, she is confronted with a series of gruesome murders that point to a larger, more sinister plot. The series follows her investigation into these crimes and reveals disturbing truths about both her own past and the criminal world she finds herself in.
