Island Records A&R Music Surgery
Just days after Sabrina Carpenter's "Short n' Sweet" peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard albums chart, Island Records has promoted Jackie Winkler — who signed Carpenter to the label — to senior vice president/head of A&R, the company announced Thursday. Winkler, based in Los Angeles, will report directly to Island Records co-CEOs Imran Majid and Justin Eshak.
According to the announcement, Winkler will lead A&R and oversee signing and creative development for the label’s roster in her new role. She signed Sabrina Carpenter in 2020 and has worked closely with the singer on her new album, Short n’ Sweet, which reached No. 1 in 15 countries, including the U.S. and the U.K. In addition to Carpenter, Winkler works closely with Demi Lovato, Keshi and Lauren Spencer Smith.
In a joint statement, Majid and Eshak said: "Jackie is an exceptional leader and A&R director. Her collaborative spirit, creative instincts and tenacious nature make her the ideal person to lead our A&R department. We are thrilled to have her join us as we develop the next generation of iconic artists for Island Records."
