Issa López is ready to pour herself a glass of bubbly to celebrate True Detective: Night Country's 19 Emmy nominations — and then dive headfirst into the HBO anthology's next season.

"A good friend of mine came in at 8 in the morning today with a bottle of champagne, and it's still in the fridge. We're going to open it as soon as I get off the phone," she told Deadline. "I'm a happy person. I've had a good life. This is one of the best mornings of my life."
True Detective: Night Country quickly became the franchise’s most successful iteration after it debuted in January. Within a month or so, López was attached to direct a fifth season, which she now says is a “fun, dark, f*cked up story” that she’s eager to get started on. She’s currently writing it.
