'A Complete Unknown' Director James Mangold Calls Multi-Film Universes 'The Death of Storytelling'
James Mangold is hard at work on his Bob Dylan film, A Complete Unknown. But while he has directed parts of the X-Men and Indiana Jones franchises, he doesn't bring that sensibility to this project.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, Mangold answered a question about why star Timothée Chalamet, who plays Dylan, is seen in the teaser with a note from Johnny Cash. The interviewer indicated that it gave hope for "a cinematic universe, multiverse return-of-Joaquin Phoenix situation."
Mangold immediately rejected that.
