Janet Yang re-elected as Academy President
In a noticeably less controversial election than the current one for U.S. president, producer Janet Yang was re-elected president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences by the organization’s Board of Governors. This will be her third consecutive term, which comes as no surprise since AMPAS presidents are generally re-elected every year of a possible four terms, as long as they have not been removed from the Board itself.
Also elected to director positions by the board were newcomers Lesley Barber, Vice President (Chair, Membership Committee); DeVon Franklin, Vice President (Chair, Equity and Inclusion Committee); Donna Gigliotti, Vice President/Treasurer (Chair, Finance Committee); Lynette Howell-Taylor, Vice President (Chair, Awards Committee); and Howard A. Rodman, Vice President/Secretary (Chair, Governance Committee).
“I am thrilled that Janet is returning as Academy President for a third term to continue the great work we have done over the past two years,” said Academy CEO Bill Kramer. “I am also thrilled to welcome this year’s incredible roster of dedicated trustees. I look forward to working with our trustees and governors to advance the Academy’s mission, serve our global membership, celebrate the work of our international film community, continue to ensure the Academy’s financial health, and expand our reach and impact within the industry.”
