Jimmy Kimmel and John Mulaney opt out of Oscars | The Social
ABC will have to dig deep to find an Oscars host after Jimmy Kimmel and John Mulaney both dropped out.
Kimmel, who hosted the show for the past two years, made the decision some time ago, before he took his traditional summer hiatus from Jimmy Kimmel Live! , but Deadline understands that Mulaney waited until Kimmel was officially dead before making a decision. It turns out he said no, too.
Mulaney comes from John Mulaney Presents: Everybody's In LA, which was praised by critics for its chaotic approach to a late-night show but failed to break into the main Emmy conversation. He also has a number of other projects in the works, including some stand-up dates.
