Wheelhouse Opens 'Non-Office' on Sunset for Influencers to Work and Play
Jimmy Kimmel's Kimmelot and Brent Montgomery's Wheelhouse have parted ways after a six-year business partnership between the host's production company and the producer's media and investment startup.
The shift for Kimmelot and Wheelhouse has been in the works for months. Kimmelot’s departure from the Wheelhouse umbrella was expected when Wheelhouse raised its first round of outside funding from Jeff Bewkes’ firm Alignment Growth earlier this year. Kimmelot reportedly decided it was time for the company to transition from Wheelhouse, where Kimmelot was founded in 2018, to a fully independent status. The partners presented the move as amicable, noting that both companies will continue to operate together on existing projects.
"When Wheelhouse acquired Alignment Growth's equity investment, we decided to consolidate our ownership," Wheelhouse and Kimmelot said in a joint statement. "Jimmy transitioned from an equity partner to a commercial partner. While we no longer have an ownership stake in each other's companies, Kimmelot and Wheelhouse continue to share resources and collaborate on several individual projects."
