Will JJ Abrams and Bad Robot actually produce DC movies, TV shows, or Warner Bros/Discovery?
JJ Abrams' Bad Robot is expected to cross the 20-year mark at Warner Bros. Television. The company is in advanced negotiations with Warner Bros. to extend its film and TV deal with the studio, sources tell Deadline.
The upcoming multi-year extension comes more than two years after Bad Robot’s current massive five-year pact hit serious turbulence at the halfway point following the April 2022 merger between Warner Bros. and Discovery, when it was one of several big-ticket items under investigation by the new regime. At the time, HBO pulled the plug on Abrams’ sci-fi drama Demimonde before production was set to begin on the ambitious — and expensive — series.
The post-merger rocky period included a handful of other Bad Robot series being greenlit and not moving forward at Warner Bros. Discovery streamer Max, including The Shining series Overlook and the animated Batman: Caped Crusader.
