The White House continued its briefings on the threat of Hurricane Milton as it heads toward central Florida. President Joe Biden also criticized the spread of misinformation about the response and recovery.
Donald Trump lies about Biden and Harris' hurricane response
"The last few weeks have seen a reckless, irresponsible, relentless promotion of disinformation and outright lies that are upsetting to people," Biden said today. "It undermines confidence in the incredible rescue and recovery work that has been done and will continue. It is damaging to those who need help the most."
He singled out Donald Trump, saying he has "led the onslaught of lies." That includes "claims that property is being confiscated. That's just not true. They're saying people affected by these storms are going to get $750 in cash and no more. That's just not true. They're saying the money needed for this crisis is being diverted to migrants. What a ridiculous statement."
Biden also hit out at Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) for her claim that the federal government controls the weather. "It's beyond ridiculous," Biden said.
