Anton and New Europe Films jointly own the worldwide rights to the film and will continue its sales at the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival.
Written and directed by Dara Van Dusen and based on the novel by Stewart O'Nan, “A Prayer for the Dying” is set in 1870 in Friendship, Wisconsin, a small town of Scandinavian settlers still reeling from the recent Civil War. When faced with a new and even deadlier threat, one man is forced to make a heartbreaking choice: save his young family or defend the community that gave him a second chance at life and meaning. Flynn plays Jacob Hansen, the sheriff responsible for the town’s safety, while Reilly plays the local doctor.
Scandinavian actors Kristine Kujath Thorp (“Ninjababy,” “Sick of Myself”) and Gustav Lindh (“The Northman,” “Queen of Hearts”) also star in the film.
