Jon Steinlauf, who navigated waves of corporate mergers in recent years on his way to becoming head of U.S. ad sales at Warner Bros. Discovery, will leave the company later this year.
Discovery's Jon Steinlauf Named Chief US Advertising Sales Officer
The news was shared internally on Friday by Bruce Campbell, WBD's Chief Revenue and Strategy Officer. (Read his memo below.)
Steinlauf has served as president of nearly three dozen linear cable networks, as well as the advertising layer of Max. He held the top advertising position at Scripps Networks Interactive, which merged with Discovery in 2018. After becoming one of the few Scripps executives to take a top job at Discovery, Steinlauf rose to the top advertising position at WBD following the merger of WarnerMedia and Discovery in 2022. Steinlauf also previously held positions at Turner and ESPN.
The departure follows news that Kathleen Finch, a former colleague of Steinlauf's at Scripps and Discovery who became chairman and CEO of US Networks at WBD, also plans to leave.
