The JonBenét Ramsey miniseries on Paramount+ rounds out the cast with four new additions.
The Murder Mystery of JonBenet Ramsey (2016)
Variety has learned that Garrett Hedlund, Alison Pill, Emily Mitchell and Owen Teague will all star in the series. They join previously announced leads Melissa McCarthy and Clive Owen, as well as cast members Shea Whigham and Will Patton. Production is set to begin soon in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
As previously announced, the official description of the series states that it will "follow the Ramsey family, before and after the tragedy, as they cope with the painful loss of a child while dealing with intense public attention caused by a media frenzy that caused this case to grip an entire nation. At the heart of the series is the story of Patsy (McCarthy) and John Ramsey (Owen) – exploring the unbreakable partnership of these two complex people – as husband and wife, as mother and father – who dedicated themselves and their children to building the story of a perfect, privileged life, only to have it shattered on a Christmas Eve in 1996.
Mitchell will play JonBenét Ramsey. She will next be seen in the upcoming film "The Apprentice," starring Sebastian Stan as a young Donald Trump. Mitchell's other credits include the films "Ordinary Angels," "Priscilla" and "Out of My Mind," and shows like "What We Do in the Shadows" and "Ghosts."
